This collection consists of ledgers, documents, photographs from Springfield Institution for Savings. The books of the Springfield Institute for Savings collection date from 1801 to 1979. The collection includes 261 books. Among the books included in this collection are atlases, bonds, cash books, collateral exchange books, expense books, index of deposits, journals, ledgers, monthly statements, note tellers cash books, and records of loans. The books have been organized into seven different series by date. Within each series, each individual book has been wrapped in acid-free paper. Series 01 includes material from 1820-1869 and contains 27 books. Along with the books mentioned above, this series contains information on the Cabotville Agency. Series 02 contains 28 books dated from 1870 to 1889. Included here is employee Henry S. Lee's Journal, along with Elizabeth Labaree's cash book. Series 03 includes material from 1890 to 1899. There are 26 books in this series. Series 04 includes 38 books dated from 1900-1919. Series 05 is dated from 1920-1939. This series has a variety of atlases and maps. There are 60 books belonging to this series. Series 06 contains 76 books representing all the material from 1940 to 1979. Series 07 consists of the books which are not dated. They are all labeled N.D. Six books are included in this series. The bulk of this collection is oversized material. Consequently, the books have been separated into appropriate time frames. |
