Book of Smith and Wesson business correspondence organized alphabetically by company/sender General business correspondence including inquiries about guns, parts and repairs from individuals, resalers, and companies; letters and invoices from suppliers about materials; employment inquiries; etc. These letters provide insight into numerous industries and supply chains involved in manufacturing. Many letters discuss materials such as metals (steel, iron, and nickel), specialty woods and ivory, oil (including sperm oil), and textiles used in manufacturing. Letters from a Mr. M. W. Robinson, in particular, provide information about international shipping, sales, and business transactions. Many letters also address issues of patents. Correspndence from January, 1874. The January book includes two letters regarding a box of revolvers destined for St. Petersburg and the "Russian Government" (quotation marks included in letter). References war and Max Fielder (see March and April 1873). The signature is illegible, filed under B. Also in the January book are letters about a Morris Brown patent with Legget & Leggett, Patent Attorneys & Solicitors of Patents. Smith and Wesson continue to use Leggett & Leggett for legal cases.
