This is an album of cartes de visite belonging to Captain Thomas Oliver Barri, who died in 1863 at the Battle of Gettysburg. Accompanying the album were some additional items: * 6 daguerreotypes * 1 silhouette * 1 miniature of George Atwater * loose photos of 259 State St. & 295 State St., Springfield, MA * clipping about lecture by William Barri Kirkham * miscellaneous papers: * letter from Hannah Upham to Polly Bemis (mother of Thomas Barri's wife, Fanny Howe) * 1863 pass for Capt. Thomas Barrie * note to Thomas Barrie from Adjt. Gen. Alexander Lowry Daguerreotypes, silhouette, and miniature were copied and originals transferred to CVHM objects collection. Other items have been sleeved and boxed with album. |
