This series consists of three boxes of photographs, all 8 x 10" black and white, which originally were organized in ten volumes. The 556 photographs document the activities of the Committee on Public Safety in 1917-1918. This board was established by the City of Springfield shortly after the United States declared war against Germany in April 1917, and was in charge of various preparatory activities. The 1918 and 1919 Municipal Registers of the City of Springfield contain summaries of this board's activities, while the photographs serve as a "Pictorial Record".
